My Last Days

It was so nice to spend time with you all these last two days!  Thank you all for your kindness!  I've uploaded some photos.  I'm sorry we didn't get a group photo on Friday.  I forgot to do it before people started leaving.  So, after today you can switch on over to the new blog site! :-)

Enjoy my last upload of Sunshine class photos!  www.apriln.shutterfly.com

Spring Week Newsletter

A Note from the Teacher

Well, this is my final newsletter for the Sunshine class. It felt like forever as I waited to hear from WSU regarding my acceptance and now the time has seemed to come so quickly. It has been a fun year getting to know each of you and your children. I am sorry to not be finishing out the last two months, but I’m also excited for Denise to step into the role of Lead Teacher. She’ll be great as I’m sure you already know! I look forward to being able to spend a little time with you on Thursday and Friday before I leave.

Parent/Teacher conference sign ups will be available this week. Denise will be filling out a year-end assessment form for each child that you’ll be given a copy of. If you would like to also have a meeting with her you can sign up for a time on Thursday, May 1st. There is a rummage sale happening in the church on Friday so the parking lot will be packed. With that in mind, Denise will be limiting the number of available times to only be on Thursday. There will be no school either that Thursday or Friday, May 1st and 2nd. Let Denise know if you have any questions.
And lastly, the Mom’s Tea is coming up very soon, Thursday and Friday, May 8th and 9th. The even takes place upstairs in Jason Lee Hall (where the bounce houses were during carnival). The kids have been working hard on special songs to sing for you and will soon be working on some cute little projects for you as well. I hope that each of you will be able to be there so that each child has their mom to sit with and share the special day with. If a mom cannot attend, a grandma could take their place. :-)

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the year and I will miss you all!

-Teacher April

This Week in the Sunshine Class

We’ll be spending this week enjoying Spring-related activities. We’ll learn about how a seed becomes a plant and we’ll plant our own seeds as well. Plus we have a cute little poem to help us learn about the different parts of a flower.

We’ll play in mud and read a cute book called “Mud!”

We’ll be making ladybugs for our Spring bulletin board and we have a cute little counting game that involves ladybugs and daisies.

We’ll practice our cutting skills by cutting “grass clippings” and parts for our ladybugs.
And we’ll be making “blooming trees” in a creative way. There are so many beautiful trees blooming in spring! Now they’ll have their own tree to remember this beautiful season.
Hopefully by the end of the week we’ll have a beautiful Spring bulletin board to enjoy!
And of course we’ll end our week together by sharing some tasty treats on Thursday and Friday.

Let’s enjoy our last week together and hopefully we’ll have some sunny weather to give us good spirits! :-)

New Sunshine Class Blog Location

Denise and I just finished setting up a new blog site for her to run after I leave. This site will still be used up until that point but after that you can go to www.sunshineclass.blogspot.com. The address is very similar, just missing the hyphen between sunshine and class. This site will remain open so you can always check back. Also, you'll be able to continue to access my photo website to order or see prints of any photos from this year. www.apriln.shutterfly.com. Please let me know if you have any questions! :-)

Easter Week Photos

The kids really had fun with all the Easter activities this week. Everyone wanted to dye an Easter Egg and the egg hunt was a great surprise. Thank you for bringing in filled Easter Eggs! I've uploaded photos of the week to the album: Easter Week 2008.

Lastly, just to clear up any confusion...my last day is Friday, April 18th. I think some people thought it was last week. Sorry, you're stuck with me a few more weeks! ;-)

I'm working on the yearbooks this week. I hope to have them done and ordered before the end of break. It's been challenging making sure that 30 kids are equally represented throughout the book. I hope you all will be pleased with the outcome! :-) I assume the books will arrive before I leave but if they do not I will just plan on bringing them by the school when they do arrive.

Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about my leaving or the transition or anything like that. You can of course feel free to talk to Denise as well. Her e-mail address is also on the newsletter.

Enjoy your nice long break! Let's hope for at least a few nice days!

Yearbooks

I just wanted to remind you that money for yearbooks is due by the end of this week before we head off for Spring Break. I attached the sign-up sheet to the sign-in sheet so you can check to see if you've paid or not. The names that have a star beside them still need to pay.

Thanks! :-)

Pet Week

The kids had fun and learned a lot about caring for pets and being safe around strange dogs and their people. I've uploaded some photos to a new album: Pet Week 2008.

Enjoy!

Don't forget, we have a meeting on Monday and Tuesday morning next week. We'll chat for about ten minutes after your drop your children off. I have some important information to share that you need to know. Hope to see you there!

Parent/Teacher Meeting - Next Mon & Tues (March 24 & 25)

I have some news I would really like to share with you personally. If you are able, please plan on sticking around for a few minutes when dropping your child off on Monday (March 24) morning, Tuesday (March 25) morning or Tuesday afternoon (depending when your child comes to school). I promise only to take a few moments of your time. Probably 9:05-9:15 am and 12:20-12:30 pm.

Thanks!
